Tickets from Reader’s Digest

Reader’s Digest recently boasted that they are giving away 80 pairs of tickets for one of Singapore International Storytelling Festival show, Singapore International Storytellers Showcase. The show is held on September 11 & 12, 2009.

I sent my particulars a bit late since I just knew about this on July issue of Singapore’s Reader’s Digest, which distributed late at my school. So, what can I expect?

I got ticket no. 129 and 130 (means I’m the 64th person to send e-mail to Reader’s Digest to get the tickets). I received the letter only yesterday and got to know about it at night.

This is the envelope

A booklet, a pair of tickets and a letter from Reader’s Digest thanking for interest in the event

So, that’s the way it is on Thursday night. For now, good day/night.

Singapore Polytechnic Brochure

After Republic Polytechnic (RP), now Singapore Polytechnic (SP) sent brochure to students taking GCE ‘O’ Level this year.

At first, it looks like a normal letter sent with a cartoon at the bottom left-hand corner. SP’s logo printed clearly at the opposite side of the cartoon.

Turned the letter and this is what you’ll get. SP (they claimed as
シンガポールポリテク) presents an anime titled “Super Poly” (
スーパーポリテク). As the cover suggests, it is the first such brochure that they have released for this year. I’m not sure about past years.

Open up and you’ll get a comic. The comic promotes a typical daily life at SP.

Last of all, there is one big page that you could actually hang as a poster. On the page, SP introduces five new courses which are Digital Animation, Visual Effects & Motion Graphics, International Business, Materials Science and lastly, Perfumery & Cosmetic Science.

A good try by SP but I won’t join them nor I would join the other four polytechnics or junior colleges in Singapore. I’ve decided to continue my study in Indonesia doing Law and Notary Magistrate. I can’t reveal much about the plan yet. I will tell you in the coming years in this blog (if I still update it). For now, good day.

Magazine from Republic Polytechnic

Yesterday afternoon, I checked the mailbox in my hostel and found a letter for me. It was quite… rare for me to get letter and even if I got any, it is usually about claiming prize or free tickets or whatever related to that.

This is the letter

I opened it up and found a magazine inside, titled @RP. The magazine is targeted to students doing their final year in secondary school and is sitting for GCE ‘O’ Level for the year.

This is the magazine

Of course, it consists of all the good side of Republic Polytechnic since its main purpose is for the promotion of the institution. Most of the content is how Republic Polytechnic students view about their school (remember, promotional use).Activities that the polytechnic is going to organised specially for upper secondary (mainly students sitting for ‘O’ Level) could also be found inside.

But, I still have not decided whether I will continue my study here or elsewhere so at the moment, I would give no comment to the magazine.

N.B.: I’m sure my classmates also received the same thing.
