Moon gravity causes wave tides . The continuous phenomenon produces sea currents. Now, the phenomenon is used to propel turbine that generates electricity by a group of students from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), incorporated on T-Files team.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the renewable energy potential from the wave tide phenomenon could generate electricity up to 240,000 megawatt. However, the discharged installation has not generated much electricity yet.
ITB T-Files team leader, Nurana Indah Paramita, said the key to the turbine development is on the utilisation of the turbine’s flipper aerodynamics. The turbine’s condition should also be prepared to handle strong currents.
